WICKER SAYS TAXING CAP WOULD PASS

Asked on N. C. Spin if he thinks a Constitutional Amendment capping income tax at 5.5% would be approved by voters, former Lieutenant Governor Dennis Wicker said ”I think it would pass.”

He’s right. Voters are fed up with politicians and would gladly clip their power by limiting their ability to tax. Currently, the politicians in North Carolina can raise personal income taxes to 10%. The conservative majority should let people vote on a cap of 5.5%, where the rate is now.

With tax cuts and budget restraint, we have the top economy in the region. Conservative ideas work. They improve people’s lives. The conservative majority can protect our economy by allowing the people to vote on a Constitutional Amendment freezing income tax rates.
