NC Jobs Report: A Beacon of Hope
For all the negative attacks from the Left trying to portray the Reform Majority’s track record on North Carolina’s economy and its benefits to the people of our state as lacking, a new job report shows amazing strength for our economy.
A report about North Carolina’s July labor numbers showed 13,000 new jobs were added.
WRAL reported, “While the unemployment rate…remains at 3.3%, the state’s economy keeps creating more opportunities despite challenges of inflation and some layoffs that keep happening.”
Opportunities. That’s the key word. The conservative strategy executed by the Reform Majority is one of hope, growth and opportunity for ALL people in North Carolina. It’s a beacon of hope at a time when many people are worried about their finances.
N.C. State University economist Dr. Mike Walden observed:
“Borrowing from the classic Sonny and Cher song, the July labor force numbers show the ‘economic beat goes on’ in North Carolina…. The 13,000 boost in jobs was the largest since January.”
Walden also said, “With a strong labor market, economic growth in North Carolina should continue, and any possibility of a recession is pushed ahead even later in 2024…. If the inflation rate continues to moderate, the ingredients for a soft landing are certainly in the mix. The economic beat keeps beating!”
These numbers are better than our economic numbers even before the COVID epidemic, according to Walden. “Both the unemployment rate and the labor force participation rate remained unchanged. Both of these rates are lower than their pre-pandemic levels,” he reported.
So much for those who want to criticize the wisdom of our economic leaders in how they manage the state’s budget matters. With inflation ravaging families’ nest eggs and out-of-control federal government overspending wrecking our national economy, this report brings a bit of comfort that at least here in our state the job picture is healthy and we continue to be a beacon of opportunity.
Since the Reform Majority’s leadership is constantly pummeled by the two-headed behemoth made up of the liberal editors and the Governor, we give credit where due for creating this island of economic stability here in North Carolina with their courage, foresight, and wisdom in how they do taxing and spending.
To think that North Carolina has more people working now than ever before is a testament to a job well done during tough times in creating opportunity for all our citizens.
