Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson leads Attorney General Josh Stein by six points in a poll previewing a potential 2024 contest for North Carolina Governor. Robinson, a former factory worker, has earned considerable statewide media attention since becoming the state’s first black Lt. Governor and is popular with the party’s base. Stein was a state senator before becoming Attorney General in 2016. In 2020, Stein narrowly defeated his Republican opponent, winning reelection by 14,000 votes out of more than 5.5 million cast.
