Before House Republicans go too far out on a limb passing special interest tax breaks, they should consider the fact 70% of voters back the plan conservative reformers in the Senate advocate raising the standard deduction by 25% for everyone.

Under the Senate budget – instead of selected tax breaks for a few special interests -everyone gets a tax cut through a higher standard deduction that makes the first $18,200 of income tax free for a couple. 70% support a tax change like that according to Republican pollster Rob Autry’s survey for the Carolina Partnership for Reform.

Do House members want to argue with 70% of the voters?
