The newspapers who think it’s OK to tax some people at 50% while giving a tax refund to people who don’t pay taxes now say it’s unfair redistribution to split sales tax revenue based on population instead of where the sale occurred .
But if someone from Johnston County shops in Wake County, why is it redistribution for the person who paid the tax to see public services in Johnston County upgraded with the tax he or she just paid?
Coastal resort towns are another group upset with changing sales tax. But do they call it redistribution when inland homeowners pay higher insurance rates to subsidize $1.5 million beach houses under the Beach Plan that puts everybody on the hook for big hurricane damages?
