Buried in the Senate’s Billion Dollar middle Class Tax Cut is a corporate tax change rewarding companies that invest and create jobs in North Carolina, while penalizing companies that simply ship products to North Carolina consumers from out of state without necessarily investing anything here.
The reform is called Market Based Sourcing, but it ought to be called “Bring Jobs to N. C.“
Currently, a multistate corporation like Walmart that invests here might pay more by investing more here. Amazon might pay less by staying away. And that’s a backwards tax code.
But it also gives business a way to save by investing more and creating more jobs here.
N. C. Job Creation is another reason for the House to support the Billion Dollar Middle Class Tax Cut.
